In all honesty, I don’t like running. Major reason is because I am not physically strong to endure such sport, hence I find it tiring and boring. These are the only sports that my body can endure – cuit tiang, galah panjang and ketingting, haha!

Anyway, my action did otherwise.

Last weekend, me and two friends participated in a fun run program. The program is called Sekinchan Sarong Half Marathon. It was held in Sekinchan, Selangor. We booked one night stay at Purple Town Hotel — Just nice for a short stay and single ladies like us.

We arrived on Saturday’s evening because the event started on Sunday. We checked-in hotel at 3 PM and we went out for dinner at Colek D’sawah.

Entrance of Colek D'sawah restaurant with colorful signage, surrounded by palm trees and a white car parked nearby.
Colek D’sawah entrance. I love this kind of cafe. It’s cosy, clean, open and surrounded by paddy field and coconut trees.
Some of the foods we ordered. Char kuetiau and nasi goreng kampung were delicious! The one you see on the left that looks like fried banana is actually tapai goreng (fried fermented tapioca) . I tried it but don’t really like it.
Ais batu jagung. It did taste good but the amount of food colouring was too much — it killed our appetite.
Paddy field owns by Haji Md. Nor bin Haji Abd. Rahman Sdn Bhd. How cool.
“Sebutir biji beras ibarat setitik peluh petani. Hargailah beras kita.”
“Seperti buah padi, makin berisi makin rendah; jangan seperti lalang, makin lama makin tinggi.” — A famous Malay proverb that emphasises the importance of being humble as you gain more knowledge, power, wealth and status.

After the dinner, we found a spot for pictures!

Beautiful Sekinchan. I want to bring my mom here one day!

The next day…

Today was the day! We got up before 6 am because our program started at 7.30 am. I was nervous because they were so many people and didn’t know what to expect. I’d been asking my friends, “are we going to run or walk?” – I hope they didn’t get boring of me. :p

Three women are smiling whilst selfie. 2 male at the back, face covered.
I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw a table of fried banana ready to be served to all runners. Like, how am I going to run whilst eating? No way! My friend, on the other hand, took and ate everything they served! Random teruk this girl lah!
I felt attacked seeing this on that day.
Runners came tumbling to this beverage stall as soon as we received our medals. I thought all these were free, but no. They were few other food vendors as well.
3 km tapi penat weh. My first fun run medal, wohoo!
Got free Bio Zip detergent pack too!

Overall, this fun run was FUN! I never expected that I would enjoyed it since I don’t like running. And BIG thanks and credit to my friends. If not because of Fatin, I wouldn’t be able to tick this off from my bucket list! Also, I don’t think this fun run would be so enjoyable without the presence of them.

Will I join again for another fun run? Don’t be so hopeful because again — I don’t like running, haha!

Would you want to try a fun run program? Let me know in the comments!
